About Me | Pothos Photography

Hey there! My name is Sarah, and I’m your local photography, art and mythology nerd. I fell in love
with photography the moment I picked up my first camera. As soon as I heard the shutter click, I was hooked!

I earned a bachelor’s degree in photojournalism, which fueled my love for candid, unscripted
moments. When I realized a career in journalism wasn’t for me, I took everything I learned and
embarked on my official journey helping individuals and couples document their personalities.

My Process

I pride myself on taking photos that truly reflect my subjects. My favorite compliment I hear quite often is “Our photos are so us!” When I hear those words, I know I’ve done my job.

I live for the unscripted moments: the laugh in between poses, the moments just before a couple is about to kiss, the moments where you are being unapologetically you. These are the most beautiful in my eyes because they are the true moments.

For me, it’s so much more than photography. Yes, I’m the one behind the camera, but it’s all about connecting with my clients and getting to know them as people. By forming that personal relationship, it helps you feel more comfortable in front of the camera, which ultimately makes for those extra special photos.

Lots of people can hold a camera, but not everyone will go

above and beyond to make sure you feel great and look even better!

Why Pothos?

I chose the name Pothos Photography as a nod to my inner mythology nerd. Pothos is the Greek god of love. Because I specialize in photographing love in all forms, I thought this was fitting—and I strive to live up to the name with every photo session! I always want to showcase my muses in a way that represents their unique relationships, personalities and love.

My Outlook

I am not afraid to be goofy and put myself out there. I'm a prominent believer in practicing what I preach, so I put myself in front of the camera as often as I can to show you that I understand what it's like to be where you are during my sessions.

I love trying new things and having fun, and I am so glad that I have such a supportive husband that not only allows me to convert our living room into a JC Penny-inspired photo studio, but also agrees to take JC Penny-inspired couples photos with me!
